Kutaisi/Prometheus Cave

Kutaisi is the historical capital of the Kingdom of Georgia, the historical center of the Kutaisi diocese.

Gelati Monastery, founded in 1106, is a masterpiece of the Golden Age of medieval Georgia. The Gelati Monastery, one of the largest medieval Orthodox monasteries, was also a center of science and education, and the Academy housed in it was one of the most important cultural centers of ancient Georgia.

The Motsameta Monastery was built in the 11th century; the history of the foundation of the monastery is connected with the name of the princes of Argveti - David and Konstantin Mkheidze.

Prometheus Cave is a natural monument. Its length is 1.8 km, it was formed at a depth of 40 m from the surface of the earth. Its age is approximately 60-70 million years.
